Britomart Station Heritage Display
The Britomart Station Heritage Display traces the layered history of Britomart Station and the land beneath it, from early Māori settlement and land reclamation to the site's evolution as one of Auckland's key trade hubs.
Told through 3D printed models, diagrams, artefacts, and archival photographs, the exhibition charts the evolution of public transport in Auckland, from horse-drawn trams to electric trolleybuses through to the EMUs running on the network today. Artefacts uncovered during reclamation works beneath Lower Queen Street and deep under the station itself are also on display, offering a tangible link to the site's past.
Whether for history enthusiasts or curious commuters passing through, the exhibition turns a daily transit point into a journey through time — surfacing the untold stories behind Auckland's transport heritage and the ground Britomart Station stands on.
